What Is Energy?

A Philosophical Understanding

Most kinds of energy within the physical body, mind, and emotions are affected by our thoughts and feelings. With positive thoughts and feelings towards ourselves we will be more confident, have more energy and enthusiasm, and therefore be more likely to succeed at what we do. With negative thoughts and feelings we are likely to have less energy, be less motivated and less likely to succeed.

The mind affects the quality of energy we have and is affected by energy. The mind can also be affected by the energy from our environment and from other people. This relationship between our mind and our energy plays an important role in the quality of the health we experience and in the kind of life we live.

Reiki is a type of energy that is free of negativity and is filled with compassion, love, peace, and wisdom.  It represents the oneness of all that exists. A good definition of Reiki is “The primal energy of the universe being guided by the highest wisdom of the universe.”

A Scientific Understanding

An important part of the functioning of the human body is its electrical nature. There are electrical currents flowing through the nerves, blood, organs, and cells. Though these currents are small when comparing to the wiring of a house, they are perfect for the body and are a necessary part of its life sustaining process.

Ampere’s Law  states  - when an electric current flows through a conductor, an electromagnetic field is created around the conductor. Therefore every cell, tissue, and organ in the body has its own electromagnetic field.

Faraday’s Law of Electromagnetic Induction states - a change in the electromagnetic field will induce a similar change in electrical flow in conductors close by therefore in their electromagnetic fields. In this way every aspect of the human body, mind, and emotions are connected to and affecting each other through electromagnetic induction.

Through the use of magneto-grams, it has been found that each organ in the body has a pulsing electromagnetic field. When the organ is healthy, it pulses within a certain range of frequencies, but when it is unhealthy, it moves out of this range. The heart, for example, has been found to create the strongest field, which has been measured to a distance of 15 feet.

The hands of healers have been found to produce strong pulsing electromagnetic fields, whereas pulsing fields are not found around the hands of non-healers. When treating someone who is sick, the healers hands begin pulsing at a rate that the unhealthy organs or tissues need to be healthy. Through the process of magnetic induction, the healer’s hands induce the healthy frequency into the unhealthy electromagnetic field of the organ helping it to return to a healthy state.
